What We Believe
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made.
Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.
And we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Our History
With humble beginnings, J.F. Pepper observed the need and felt a spiritual burden for the people of Ballymacarrett, who he interacted with daily while delivering their post.
In May 1899, along with a few earnest Christians from the south end of the city, he commenced open air meetings in Gertrude street. The meetings became more popular in the following months, and in October with winter approaching, it became apparent that an indoor space was urgently needed.
The Lord graciously provided Mr Pepper with the opportunity to rent a small house in Foundry Street, this was later converted to a small hall and named East End Mission.
At a meeting of the workers in the Mission Hall in November 1903, the decision was made to constitute themselves into a Baptist Church. The first Lord’s Day services of the newly constituted Church were held on Sunday 3rd January 1904 with 18 member in attendance.
Soon the members of the Church were planning to build a new home to suit their needs in keeping with the dignity of the Baptist denomination. In February of 1907 the contract to build a new Church in Templemore Avenue was given to Messrs Robert Hewitt & Sons.
The opening ceremony of the new building took place on Saturday 19th December 1908.
The first appointed Pastor of the Church was one of the Churches elders, Mr Isaac P. Bell, and he ministered as Pastor until 1913.
In 1941 Belfast experienced the terror and destruction of enemy air raids in World War II, and the Church building suffered severe damage.
Unfortunately this wasn’t to be the last time the Church Building would come under attack. In August 1995 our main building was badly damaged by fire in a deliberate act of arson. The fire damaged building had been in a constant state of disrepair for a number of years, and in the providence of God this old building was now to be replaced in its entirety by a brand new one.
It is this Church Building we still call home today, as we continue to spread salvation through the word of God to the people of East Belfast.
